Townhill Communities First

Communities First is a Welsh Assembly Government initiative aimed at regenerating selected communities in Wales. The Team runs from the Phoenix centre, their office at Mayhill Community Centre and can also be found in different venues around the Hill.

Communities First aims to empower the community and engage a wide range of colleagues in the common aim of making the Hill a wealthier, happier, healthier and safer place to live and work.

The team works closely with local groups, organisations and individuals living and working on the Hill to help them bring about positive change and improve everyday lives. This includes helping local people to set up groups, run activities, enter training, employment and volunteering opportunities and much more. The team work in partnership with statutory, voluntary and charitable agencies and organisations in order to bring services into the community that help address community issues and improve the environment.

Communities First activity is community led. Change can only be achieved by working together and the team are always open to hearing your ideas and supporting the community to make those ideas a reality to help tackle the effects of deprivation on the Hill.
