Mayhill C1st Office |
:: |
We have had a Communities First office in Mayhill Community Centre since 2004. The office was made possible by a match funding contribution by the community centre management committee and grant funding by the C1st programme. The official opening event was led by Welsh Minister and Assembly Member for Swansea West AM Andrew Davies who said he was impressed with the partnership approach that is making such a difference for local residents by encouraging more and more people to get involved with the task of making their community a better place to live and work. Chairperson of the community centre, Anne Stephens, explained her perspective that it is all ablout team work, "We've got a great team here now and together we really are making a big difference." A few years have passed since then but the focus remains the same. Earlier in 2009 we held an event which saw over 60 community members and agencies attend to see what was on offer through the centre, and now we have regular sessions with Want2Work and other employment agencies, along with smoking cessation and a range of community-centred activities.
